The two plans show a shopping mall in its current form and as it will look after its planned redevelopment.
Overall, the mall will shift decisively from retail to leisure: its twelve small shops will disappear in favour of food and entertainment, while parking will move underground and more than double, freeing ground space for new facilities and a rooftop garden.
At present the mall has four zones. A department store fills the north-west corner, twelve small shop units occupy the north-east, and a supermarket sits on the western side. The entire southern strip is a ground-level car park with 200 spaces, and shoppers enter through main doors on the south side.
Under the plan, only the department store keeps its role. The small shops will be replaced by a food court and an eight-screen cinema, and the area beside the enlarged supermarket will become an indoor play centre and gym. The supermarket itself will expand into part of the old parking strip, because all parking is to move into a new underground car park with 450 spaces. Above the mall, a rooftop garden will be added, and the main entrance — the one constant — stays exactly where it is.
