| Introduction | Paraphrase + nêu quan điểm đồng ý một phần. |
| Body 2 (Disagree phần còn lại) | P: nhưng không phải quảng cáo nào cũng vô ích · E: thông tin về sản phẩm mới, so sánh giá, chiến dịch y tế công · Ex: quảng cáo tiêm chủng, an toàn giao thông · I: nó cũng trả tiền cho báo chí và dịch vụ miễn phí. |
| Conclusion | Chốt: vấn đề nằm ở cách quảng cáo được phép nhắm mục tiêu, nên siết quy định thay vì kết tội cả ngành. |
It is often argued that advertising harms society by pushing people to buy things they do not need. I agree that much modern advertising has this effect, but I do not accept that the industry is harmful in itself.
There is a strong case against contemporary advertising. Much of it no longer describes a product at all; it sells a feeling of inadequacy, linking a car or a phone to status and implying that the buyer is falling behind without it. Data-driven targeting makes this far more effective than before, since adverts now reach people at the precise moment they are most susceptible, and buy-now-pay-later offers appear beside them. The results are visible in rising household debt among the young and in the mountains of discarded goods that were bought on impulse and never needed.
However, condemning advertising as a whole ignores its legitimate functions. Consumers cannot compare products they have never heard of, and a market without information favours established brands over better newcomers. Public health campaigns on vaccination, road safety and smoking rely on exactly the same techniques and have saved a great many lives. Advertising revenue also funds journalism and the free online services that most people take for granted, so its removal would simply shift costs onto users.
In conclusion, I partly agree with the statement: advertising does encourage unnecessary consumption, particularly when it targets children and the financially vulnerable. The remedy is tighter regulation of how and to whom adverts may be directed, not a blanket judgement that advertising is bad for society.
