The line graph shows internet penetration in Sweden, Brazil and Kenya, as a percentage of each population, between 2000 and 2025.
Overall, usage rose substantially in all three countries. Sweden, starting from a far higher base, approached saturation early, whereas the two developing countries recorded much faster growth from almost nothing.
Sweden was already relatively connected in 2000, when almost half its population was online—a figure fifteen times higher than Brazil's 3% and all but incomparable with Kenya's 1%. Swedish usage then climbed rapidly to 90% by 2010, after which growth inevitably slowed, and the figure crept up to 98% by 2025, leaving little room for further expansion.
The most dramatic transformations occurred elsewhere. Brazil's rate doubled or more in each early interval, passing the halfway mark around 2014 and reaching 84% by 2025. Kenya followed the same trajectory roughly a decade later: barely 1% of Kenyans were online in 2000, yet by 2025 a majority—52%—had internet access, an increase of more than fifty-fold over the period.
