Children today spend far less time playing outside than their parents did. This essay will explain why outdoor play has declined and then examine the effects of this change.

Two reasons stand out. The first is competition from screens: games, videos and social media offer effortless entertainment indoors, and many children now prefer a tablet to a playground. The second is parental fear and shrinking space. Worried about traffic and strangers, parents increasingly keep children indoors or fill their time with supervised classes, while in crowded cities the gardens, empty fields and quiet streets where earlier generations played have largely disappeared under buildings and cars.

The effects reach both body and mind. Physically, inactive indoor childhoods contribute directly to rising obesity and weakening fitness, and doctors report growing numbers of children with poor motor skills and even vitamin D deficiency from lack of sunlight. Mentally and socially, the costs are just as serious. Unstructured outdoor play is how children learn to negotiate, take risks, resolve quarrels and invent rules without adult referees; children denied it arrive at school with weaker social skills and less independence. Psychologists also link time in nature with lower anxiety and better concentration, so its loss has come at the worst possible moment — precisely as childhood anxiety is climbing. Habits formed early tend to persist, producing adults who neither exercise nor feel at ease outdoors.

In conclusion, children play outside less because screens compete for their attention and because anxious parents and crowded cities have closed off the spaces they once used. The result is measurable damage to children's health, social development and mental wellbeing — a price that will be paid for decades.

Phân tích: Dạng: Two-question (Reasons + Effects). Bố cục biến thể Reasons + Effects: vẫn khung Two-question, Body 2 chia effects theo trục thể chất/tinh thần — cách chia giúp 2 ý không trùng. Từ vựng: effortless entertainment, without adult referees, closed off the spaces, a price that will be paid for decades. Ngữ pháp: mệnh đề quan hệ nơi chốn (the quiet streets where earlier generations played), cấu trúc how children learn to + chuỗi động từ. Chi tiết vitamin D là Expand y khoa nhỏ nhưng tạo cảm giác chuyên môn — đúng kỹ thuật “một chi tiết đắt hơn ba ý chung chung”.
